Pre Natal Visits
-Last Trimester
A PRENATAL VISIT is recommended for parents who are at high risk pregnancy, first time parents and for those who request a conference.
The Pre Natal visit will include discussions regarding the expected mother's medical history, pregnancy history, pregnancy history, anticipated complications if any, hospital stay, planned method of feeding and benefits of breast feeding.
Dr. Pillai recommends you to have a tour of your hospital prior to the delivery to get yourself familiarized in advance.
New Born Visits
-Within a week
Dr. Pillai will examine your baby at the hospital within 24 hours after birth if you choose her to be your baby's pediatrician.
Dr. Pillai recommends that every infant should have an evaluation within 3 to 5 days of birth and within 48 to 72 hours after discharge from the hospital. This evaluation will help determine and issues regarding feeding, jaundice or any other sickness and weight checks.
Breast feeding infants will receive formal breast feeding evaluation, encouragement and instructions as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Well Child Visits
-Monthly Scheduled
Dr.Pillai will discuss your common concerns regarding growth, nutrition, development, sleep, toilet training and social behaviors such as attention problems and learning difficulties
Regular Well Child Visits
Having regular well child visits with your child's doctor and raising the concerns that matter most to you are the key ingredients in helping the doctor know you and your child. It also helps in creating a reliable and trustworthy relationship with your child's doctor.
A Team Approach
Dr. Pillai strongly recommends regular well child visits to best serve the needs of your children and your family. Pediatricians are the experts in child health, but parents are experts on their child. A team approach can best develop top physical, emotional and developmental health for the child.
Sick Visits
-Consulation by appointment only
Dr. Pillai and her staff will try their best to make your visit as comforting as possible when your child is sick. We provide same day appointments for sick visits and Dr. Pillai will answer your phone messages in a timely manner during and after office hours.
Dr. Pillai will discuss about the nature of your child's sickness in detail and will advise you the appropriate treatment options. Antibiotics will be prescribed only if necessary since they do not treat against common infections such as colds and flu.
She will advise you if your child needs to be seen at a local urgent care or hospital ER depending on the severity of your child's condition.
Behavioral Evaluations
-Attention Deficit Disorders and Attention Deficit Hyper Activity Disorders
Dr.Pillai provides behavioral evaluations for your children as a part of their well child visits. We recommend you to make an appointment for behavioral evaluation if a concern arises at home or at the child's school.
We will advise to have both parents present with the child at the time of evaluation. Appropriate diagnostic forms such as nichq vanderbilt assessment will be given at the appointment. We use the scales scoring system to make an accurate diagnosis on your child.
Dr. Pillai recommends that the forms be completed prior to your appointment. Dr. Pillai will discuss the different treatment options appropriate for your child and will make referrals if necessary.
Immunization Visits
-Scheduled Visits
Immunization shots (vaccines) protect children against childhood diseases that can make them very sick or even cause death.
Thanks to vaccines, diseases like polio, mumps and measles occur very rarely in the U.S, but the germs that cause these diseases still exist and therefore, children should be immunized.
Dr. Pillai strongly recommends age appropriate immunizations as recommended by American Academy of Pediatrics.
She will discuss your questions and concerns regarding immunizing your child and will be happy to go over various options and schedules of vaccinating your child at your comfort level.
Weight Visits
-Monthly Scheduled
Dr. Pillai recommends newborn visits within 3 to 5 days after birth or 2 to 3 days after hospital discharge. She will go over with your baby's feeding including any breast feeding issues and weight loss.
If necessary, she will advise you to return for another weight check if she has any concerns about your baby's weight gain within a few days.
Nurse Visits
-Scheduled Visits
Our efficient nurses who have many years of pediatric experience are proficient in childhood immunizations. You can schedule nurse visits when you discuss your child's immunization history with our nursing staff. Our nurses will help you to catch up on your child's immunization schedule if your child is behind or if he/she may have missed any immunizations. They will also provide you with an updated immunization card (yellow card).
Dr.Pillai will be available if you have any questions following the nurse visit.
WIC Visits
-Scheduled Visits
The nursing staff will help you with your WIC forms at your office visit. They will check your child's weight, height and hemoglobin if necessary.
School Physicals
-Scheduled Visits
Dr.Pillai will provide appropriate school and sport physicals for your chidren in a timely manner. Dr.Pillai and her staff strongly recommend that you make appointments in advance to avoid last minute delays. Please bring your school forms and child's immunization card at the time of your visit which will allow us to complete your forms in a timely manner.
